THE KUMARA RUSH.
BY TELEGRAPH. , (prom our special correspondent.) Kdmaba, Tuesday. The place is considerably over-rushed by persons without means. Numbers of this class are leaving daily, as work other than mining is scarce; and is taken at half the usual rates. The lead is being traced south-west a quarter of a mile wide, but washdirt is in patches, and pbor, with many blanks. There is no water at present, nor is any expected for three months to come. The township is extending, the buildings being substantial. Meat is sixpence to hinepence per pound, bread one shilling per loaf, potatoes ten shillings per cwt., sugar sixpence per pound, tea three shillings and butter two shillings per pound,, milk eighteenpence per quart, and eggs two shillings per dozen. The demand for carpenters is fully; supplied, the work being mostly by contract at low rates. There are plently of stores for the business doing. There is very little gold offering, although a large .extent of payable ground is:open, but preliminary work and the absence of water prevent immediate production.
