She left Lyttelton on Monday morning last, and had light variable winds and calms till making Cape Camp-’ bell, when a breeze from the east sprang up and took her across the Strait ns far,as the Heads, where she arrived on Wednesday evening, but the wind dying away she had to remain outside till yesterday morn-, tag, when she met the nor'easter, against which she beat into harbor, arriving as above. J , The schooner Cynthia, Captain Welsh, left Pelorus Sound at noon on Wednesday, and had light winds with fine weather till arrival here at 2 p;m. yesterday. Reports the schooner Unity as loading at the Sound’ for this port. The schooner Aurora sailed yesterdayevening for the East Coast. The steamer Ladybird sailed for Plcton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Manukau at 2 o’clock yesterday, afternoon. , , , The steamer Stormbird went alongside, the ship Waimea yesterday at 2 p.m., and took on board sixty immigrants, the greater portion Of whom are for Foxton., She took her departure for that port at 5.30 P The s.s. Rangatira arrived here yesterday afternoon at 5 o’clock from the East Coast. She left Poverty Bay at 9 a.m. on Sunday with a strongsouth east gale and heavy sea, which increased to, such violence that’ she Was compelled to take shelter under Mahia Peninsula, where she remained for thirty-nine hours. Hove up the anchor on Tuesday morning at* six o’clock, the wind being still, strong from the south-* east, with = a heavy sea running. - Arrived at Napier same evening at seven o’clock.- Left again at 11 a.m.. on Wednesday, and experienced strong head wind and heavy swei) as far as Cape Turnagain ; thence till arrival here light variable wind and fine weather The Rangatira will go on the Slip to receive an overhaul, and is advertised to sail again for the East Coast on Tuesday next. Captain Hart, late master of the ketch Reliance, has been appointed to fill a similar; position in the ketch Elizabeth, now loading in the Sound. Captain Johnston, master of the last-named vessel, takes’charge of the topsail schooner’Zior.i
