Black Douglas is rising six years old, with short legs and splendid proportions. Was bred by Robert Cockburn,Esq.,Manaia. Dam Jessie, who gained the first prize at the Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Show, held at Greytown, in December, 1872, in the class of brood mares. Sire, Champion, the well-known horse who gained the first prize at Napier, in 1872, against all-comers, and is well known for the valuable stock he left in Wairarapa and Napier. Jessie, bred by G. Burnet, Esq., out. of Blossom, by Suffolk Punch, imported from England by W. Jenkins, Esq. Blossom out of Juno, by Sampson. Juno, imported by Colonel Wakefield. Young General is a beautiful mottled bay ; stands 16 J hands high, with immense bone and muscle, and superior quality. He is seven years old, and was bred by W. Gibson, Esq., Native Point, Tasmania. Pedigree. —Sire, General (imported), dam Flower, by Matchless; grand-dam, Old Flower, the greatest prize-taker in Tasmania ; Old Flower, by Prince, also imported. Terms. —Single mare, £3 10s.; guarantee, £5 ss. Two or more mares, the bona fide property of one owner, as per agreement. Groomage fee, 55.; payable at first service. Young General has stood two years in the Wairarapa district, and his stock have been proved by competent judges to be the best in the district. He is also perfectly quiet and staunch in harness. I The pure-bred Clydesdale Horse DAINTY DAVIE, Will Stand at Mr. Aplin’s farm, Upper Kaiwarra, and will travel in that district on Monday morning to Mr. Taylor’s Johnson-; ville, from 9 o’clock to 10 in the forenoon; and will travel on to Mr. McGrath’s, Porirua Hotel; on Tuesday, at Pahautanuij Hutt arid Taita on Wednesday; Thursday and Friday, at Mr. Aplin’s farm, Upper Kaiwarra ; and on Saturday at the New Zealander Hotel, Wellington. DAINTY DAVIE is by Napoleon, out of Jess; Jess by'Prince Royal, out of Polly; Polly out of Jess (imported) by Canterbury, imported by J. C. JVatts Russell, Esq. DAINTY DAVIE is a bright bay with black points, rising 8 years old, with plenty of substance.and good action; he Stands 16 hands 1 inch in height. Winner of a First Prize when one year old; another First Prize when two years old; and a third First Prize when three years old, at Christchurch, against all comers; also, a First Prize at Leeston when four years old, and at the same time a Special Prize for the best horse of any breed; also, a First Prize at Tauherinikau m 1871; and' Second Prize last year at Masterton, and was only beaten by his half-brother Young Lofty. Jess (Dainty Davie’s dam) has bred more valuable stock than any mare ever has in New Zealand yet, namely, Highland Alary by Wellington; Young .Lofty and Young Prince Charlie, now the property of Mr. Morrison of Whareama; and a year-old colt that was sold at Mr. Boag's sale at one hundred and twenty guineas. One colt was sold same day, out of Highland Mary, for three hundred and twenty guineas, to go to Napier. The above pedigree will show that Dainty Davie is fully equal to any imported horse. His foals are giving every satisfaction, and the Napoleon stock is regarded ns the best both in Canterbury and Otago. DAINTY DAVIE has proved himself a sure foal getter. . Terms: £4 per mare; groom’s fee, 55., to be paid at first service. Paddocks will be provided at Mr. Aplin’s farm at 2s. a week. All care will be taken but no responsibility.
