The death-rate for the month of September shows a total of thuteen, against eighteen for the corresponding quarter of last year. Ah’ Wong, after a ; trial of three 1 days for -criminal assault upon a child of tender years’ at Greymouth/ was acquitted. The 'prisoner underwent two previous trials at Greymouth. An open air meeting will be held to-morrow to petition the Colonial Government bo purchase the-Teremakau punt and erect abridge over the river at the locality.
