WASTE LANDS SALE.
An auction sale of waste lands took place on Sept. sth at the Provincial Council Chamber, J. G. Holdsworth,.* Esq., Commissioner of Crown Lands, acting as auctioneer. There was a pretty, good attendance. The lots offered comprised surveyed Crown lands in the townships of Palmerston, Foxton, Fitzherbert, FeatherstOn, Masterton, Wanganui, and the city of Wellington ; also, pastoral land on the East Coast, and agricultural lands in the Ohariu, Horokiwi Valley, and Hutt districts! The bidding for few of the lots was spirited, except in the case of sections in Ohariu, for which there was brisk competition. The majority of the sections were passed.
