Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The Luna left Westport at 10 a.m. yesterday tomake search for any trace of the Britain's Pride, supposed lost. It is possible some of the survivors may have found refuge in one of the sounds, and Captain Fairchild will no doubt use his best efforts to find any trace of them. The Luna would have been now returning from the search had she not encountered such severe weather on her voyage to Westport. The schooner Onward arrived here from Lyttelton produce-laden on Monday night. She left Lyttelton on Friday last, and had strong northerly wind till Monday morning; thence fresh southerly. She hauled alongside Plimraer’s wharf last evening, and will commence discharging cargo to-day. The Rangatira will sail for Napier this evening. The steamer Arawata will arrive here early this morning from Melbourne via the South. She is advertised to sail for Nelson in the afternoon. She will leave here for Melbourne via the South, taking the outward Suez mail, on Friday afternoon. The schooner Colleen Bawn arrived here on Monday night from the Pelorua Sound timber-laden. She left there on Thursday last; was off the Heads same night, but owing to the heavy N.E. wind blowing had to run to Pailiser Bay for shelter. Got under way on Sunday night,, and with the S.E. wind fetched port as above. Messrs. McMeckan, Blackwood, and Co.'s steamer Alhambra, Captain M. Muir, from Melbourne via the West Coast, arrived here yesterday at 2.16 p.m. She left the Sandridge railway pier at 2,15 p.m. on the Bth; cleared the Heads at 5 p.m.; passed the Sisters at 1 p.m. on the 9th ; experienced a heavy S.E gale, with a nasty cross sea, during which the vessel shipped large quantities of water. On the morning of the 14th the gale abated; afterwards the wind hauled round to the N.E., and commenced to blow another gale, with thick rainy weather, which lasted till making the land; arrived off Hokitika at Sp.rn. on th 15th ; left at 3 p.m. next day, and reached Greymouth two hours afterwards ; sailed for Nelson at 10 a.m. on the 17th, and arrived there at 11.30 a.m. on the 18th ; left at 10 o’clock same night, and arrived here as above. Had a strong S.E. gale along the coast. We are indebted to the purser for report and delivery of our files. The Alhambra will sail for Melbourne via the South this afternoon.

The strong 8. B. gale prevailing on the west coast of this island prevented the Stormbird from leaving Wanganui on Monday night for this port. She might perhaps have got out on last night’s tide, and it so she should put in an appearance here this morning. The steamer Tui left Foxton for this port on Monday evening, but meeting with the heavy southerly gale which commenced here yesterday afternoon, she was compelled to run back to Foxton. The strong southerly wind which blew yesterday, and theheavysea reported to be running at the Heads, prevented the steamer Manawatu leaving for Wanganui and the Kiwi for Napier. They will both leave hero this evening. The cutter Dido arrived hero at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon from Blenheim.

The steamer Wellington, which left here for "Lyttelton on Monday afternoon, owing to the heavy S.W. gale and sea raging at the Heads had to bring up in Worser Bay, where she remained all night. Seeing that there was no sign of the wind or sea abating yesterday, she returned to port In the afternoon. She will sail again at 10 o’cleck this morning.
