Duke of Edinburgh has been shown at Christchurch four times, and took one first prize and three seconds. T‘ 0 STAND THIS SEASON, The draught Entire Horse BLACK ' DOUGLAS. Black Douglas is rising six years old, with short legs and splendid proportions. Was bred by Robert Cockburn, Ksq., Manaia. Dam Jessie, who gained the first prize at the Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Show, held at Greytown, in December, 1872, in the class of brood mares. Sire, Champion, the well-known horse who gained the first prize at Napier, in 18/2, against all-comers, and is well known for the valuable stock he left in Wairarapa and Napier. Jessie, bred by G. Burnet, Esq., out of Blossom, by Suffolk Punch, imported from England by W. Jenkins, Esq. Blossom out of Juno, by Sampson. Juno, imported by Colonel Wakefield. Black Douglas will stand at the following places;—Monday Fraser’s, Lower Hutt; Tuesday—Taylor’s, Johnsonville; Wednesday —Prosser’s, Pahautanui ; returning to Lower Hutt on Thursday, calling at Corbett’s and Worth’s, Taita, on Friday; Saturday, the owner’s stable, Wainuiomata.
