Taupo left the Manukaa early on Thursday last, reaching Taranaki by daybreak on the Bth; left again shortly after 9 a.m., arriving at Nelson about 11 p.m. the same day; left Nelson at 11 o'clock next morning, reaching Picton at dusk the same evening; was detained there somo hours owing loan accident to her machinery; left Picton at daylight yesterday, arriving here at 9 a.m. She left again for Southern ports yesterday afternoon. H.M.S. Nymphe got underway yesterday afternoon at 1.20. She Is bound for Fiji via Auckland. The steamer Otago sailed for Sydney via the West Coast at 4.15 p.m. yesterday. The schooner Unity, with a cargo of railway iron, sailed for Wanganui yesterday evening. The Herald, schooner, which left this port at midnight on Friday last for Picton, arrived there on Sunday. She left; there at 9,40 a.m. on .Sunday, noth a light breeze from •the NAV.: at the Kidnappers it fell light and variable, with a heavy head swell, and continued so till arrival hero as above. The Kangatira will leave here for Napier and Poverty Bay tills afternoon. The schooner Oreti is, up to latest accounts, barbound at Wanganui. It seems now to bo almost as hard for sailing vessels to get out of Wanganui as it is for them to get-into Hokitika. The Oreti has been bar-bound there for the past eight days. The schooner Shepherdess still lies in the same position as when she was beached. Several attempts have been made to get her to-rights, but without avail. At high water she is just awash.
