We do so feeling, that the Ward would fittingly be represented by a gentleman possessing your integrity, independence, and business qualifications, and who, as holding a considerable stake in it, would naturally use the utmost exertions to promote its wellbeing. I simply contest the Ejection on the grounds that a Te Aro , man should represent Te Aro Ward, and that an infusion of new blood into the' Council would at’the present juncture be of "vital importance and advantage to the city generally. • T am strongly opposed to the purchase of the Gas Works by the Corporation at the exorbitant price agreed upon at the last meeting of the Council, but would not object to have the price fixed by arbitation, after the vote of the citizens upon the subject had been taken. Should I have the honor of being returned, I beg to assure you that I will at aU times endeavor to faithfully represent the true interest of the Te Aro Ward, and of the City of Wellington, unbiassed by any party feeling.
