Meetings PUBLIC MEETING ON THE GAS QUESTION. TO HIS WORSHIP THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF WELLINGTON. We the undersigned ratepayers of the City of Wellington are led to believe that the City Council contemplate, and are negotiating, the purchase of the Wellington Gas Works at an excessive price, and consequently to the detriment of the ratepayers and consumers generally. We therefore respectfully request that you will convene a public meeting of the citizens, in order that the opinion of all interested may be taken, and that further operations on the part of the Corporation be suspended until the wishes of the ratepayers have been obtained.
