The following undergraduates have succeeded in passing the New Zealand University examination, held in May and June For the degree of Bachelor of Arts, Saul Solomon, Dunedin ; for the first section (compulsory) of B.A. examination, R. M. Edger, Auckland ; R. H. Reid, Auckland ; for keeping terms of 1875, A. R. Eitchett, Dunedin; J. Hill, Christchurch ; A. C. Newton, Christchurch. Nelson, Wednesdny. In the Supreme Court—Fowler v. Macarthur—an action for £6OOO damages for malicious prosecution ] the case was sent for a new trial from Christchurch, where further damages had been given. After two days’ trial, the jury returned a verdict for plaintiff, damages £4BB. Dunedin, Wednesday. Charles Thomas Horan, a post-office clerk, was charged this morning with stealing newspapers from the Post-office. He was remanded for a week. A large number of the unemployed assembled at the Provincial Government buildings this morning, in response to an advertisement offering work ; they have been put on road work at six shillings per day, with tools and tents found. The Guardian accuses the General Government in their action re the Waste Bands Board and sale of mountain tops, as being the cause of the present distress, by the unexpected stoppage of Provincial Public Works,
