A telegram was received by the Premier last evening, from Messrs. Sims and Taylor, the gentlemen in charge of the cable-repairing steamer, Edinburgh. It is dated yesterday, and states:—“Edinburgh returned Darwin. Repaired cable. Breaks on hard bottom, on Sahul Bank. Have put down heavier cable over this bank. Batavia-Singapore section repaired 25th July.”
