The Union Company’s s.s. Hawea, Captain Worsp, left Dunedin at 3 p.m. on the 7th Inst., and arrived at Lyttelton at 11 a.tn. on the Bth. Sailed at i p.m., and arrived here at 11 a.m. yesterday. Had fresh easterly breeze to Lyttelton; thence to arrival strong head wind. The Hawea left for the North at midnight. The s.s. Kangatira sailed for the East Coast at t. 50 p.m. yesterday. _ The schooner Yonng Dick, which left this port for Lyttelton on Sunday, arrived there on Tuesday evening. The s.s. Kiwi will arrive here from the East Coast to-day. She will sail again for Napier and Castle Point to-morrow. The ship iDnnbritton commenced the discharge of her cargo yesterday forenoon. In consequence of the Taupo being a day late in her arrival at Dunedin, she will not be here before Sunday morning; consequently, her departure has been altered to 1 p.m. on Monday. The schooner Theresa arrived here on Tuesday night from Patea. She had a westerly gale all the way, and lost her topmast. The steamers Stormbird and Manawatu took their departure for Wanganui at 7 o'clock last night. The ketch Falcon left Blenheim at 10 o’clock yesterday morning, and had westerly winds the first few hours of the run. thence fresh N.E. till arrival here at 8 o'clock last night. H.M.S. Nymphe arrived in the harbor late last evening. ■ The s.s. Napier leftßangitikei yesterday at 11 a.ra., and arrived at the Queen’s wharf at 10.39 p.m. The captain reports strong westerly gale all the way. The result of the race between the two brigs Neptune and Eobin Hood to Newcastle proved to be a very close one, as we had anticipated. A telegram received by Captain Baton of the ship Camperdown, from his brother, who is master of the Eobin Hood, stated that the Neptune arrived at Newcastle on Tuesday, six hours In advance of his vessel. The run across was done in the moderate time of 11 days. The following first-class iron ships owned by Messrs. Shaw, Saville, and Co. will be despatched by Msssrs. W. and G. Tumbnll, Levin and Co., or E. Pearce, direct from this port, during the coming season:—Zealand!®, St. Leonards, Avalanche, Pleiades, and Wave Queen. The sailing of the p.s. Wallace for Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth has been unavoidably postponed till 7 o'clock this morning. . , , A telegram from the outer signalman, received here yesterday by the Harbormaster, stated that the Xuna, cutter JLMdo, and a topsail’ schooner, most probably the Elibank Caatle, were at anchor in Worser s Bay.
