(PEB PKESS AGENCY.) Auckland, Thursday. All efforts to get the barque Lady Franklin afloat having failed, the hulk is now being broken up. The Bebington has been admitted to pratique., Geahamstown, Thursday. At a conference of the Borough Council and Highway Boards, held last night to consider the Counties Bill and other matters now before Parliament, the following resolution was carried unanimously :—“ That in the opinion of this meeting all godfields revenue should be handed over to the local governing bodies of the localities in which it is raised.” The Counties Bill did not seem to find much favor with the councillors and trustees. Opinions were divided regarding separation, and no resolution or definite expression of opinion was arrived at for or against. Several other matters were talked about. The amalgamation of highway districts with boroughs was repudiated by the former. A public meeting will probably be called shortly, to express an opinion upon the Counties Bill. New Plymouth, Thursday. A meeting of the Egmont electors, held at Okato, was numerously attended. The following resolution was passed unanimously:—“ The electors of Egmont district are of opinion that it is most undesirable that the province should be divided [into two counties, and if the Bill now before Parliament is passed, making the division as stated, it will act prejudicially to the interest of the province, and be an injustice and be disastrous to the northern portion of it.” The member for Egmont, and other representatives are urged in another resolution to strongly oppose the proposed division. The Sunday observance question is still agitating the public mind. Napier, -Thursday. At a meeting of the Municipal Council last night the Mayor notified that on the 16th iust. he will move that a fresh general rate be struck, amount not stated, probably Is. in the £, for six months. The sitting of the Lands Court, Napier, before Judge Bogan, terminated yesterday. The Court will sit at Wnipawa on the ICth inst., and Napier again probably in about a month. Number of claims to succession decided and blocks investigated:—Ota rata, about 500 acres; memorial ownership ordered in favor of Eeihana te Ikatahi, Te Hapuku, and twenty-eight others. Ohaoko —164; 169 acres passed through Court; judgment given in favor of Eenata Kawepo and five others; memorial ownership withheld until production of correct plans. Nelson, Thursday. The following football team will visit Wellington by the Taranaki on Monday next : —T. Nicholson, G. Nicholson, Warnock, Wells, Hodgson, Hale, Metcalfe, Galbraith, Doulton, Tennent, Watts, Gully, Sharp, and possibly two more. Dunedin, Thuasday. Beeves has been elected Mayor by a majority of 104. There was great excitement.
