SIR,-In the “Minutes of Froccedmgs of Senate of New Zealand University of the last session!- held at Christchurch m March last, ap pearslhe following signal confirmation rf the i views recently expressed m your journal. Extract from “Eeportof Committee of Whole Senate.' 4 ’ 19 th paragraph:— “Adverting to that part of the Chancellor’s report which states that in the opinion of the Senate of the Um'vyeiritov'ol London, ‘ the character of the subIS aid the text books given appear to -be considered as beyond the usual ataudaid if the examinations are to be searching ; also, that the average age of undergraduates in the New Zealand Diversity may be from two to three years less than that of undergraduates at Oxford and Cambridge, it is desirable that the standard of the examination for the B.A. degree be not higher than for the pass examination at Oxford and Cambridge. - Xhi s clause of the report was postponed, while all the rest were adopted (except No. 17).
