The political situation seems now to be settling itself. As will be noted, Mr. Whitaker, in accordance with an arrangement come to, has brought down his amendments regarding the land fund as substantial resolutions, having given notice of them to-day for Friday afternoon. It is currently reported that the proposals for financial separation, of which so much has been heard, will appear as amendments to Mr. Whitaker’s resolutions when they come forward for discussion. This is all for the better, as the questions which agitate the Opposition can be fought out fairly, and the business of the country can then be proceeded with. ■
