At the Court of Inquiry into the wreck of the Lady Franklin at Kaipara, the evidence showed that the chain parted when the captain and mate were ashore. Tie sailing of tie p.a. Manawatu for 'Wanganui has been postponed till to-night. The departure of the steamer Kiwi for Napier and Castlepoint has been altered to 2 p.m. this day. The s.s. Alhambra sailed for Melbourne, via the South, at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The sailing of the Matau for Kaikoura and Lyttelton, and of the Napier for Foxton, has been postponed till to-day. The former will leave at 11 o’clock this forenoon, and the latter at 6 p.m. The barque Malay is now due here from Newcastle, having left that port on the 11th. The ketch Thomas was taken up on Messrs. Coffey and Dixon's slip yesterday morning. The s.s, Taupo will arrive here from Southern ports this morning, and leave again for the North at noon to-morrow.

The schooner Colonist sailed for Wanganui yesterday afternoon. The schooner Colleen Bawn and Day Dawn sailed yesterday morning for Pelorus Sound. It is expected that the barque Delmira will finish ballasting to-day for Malden Island, where she goes lo fill up with guano for Melbourne. . The s.s, Rangatira, Captain Evans, left Poverty Bay at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and experienced strong S.E. winds till arrival at Napier at 7 a.m. next day. Deft again at 11 a.m. same day, and experienced easterly breeze till arrival here at 11 a.m. yesterday. She brought 20 passengers. The Rangatira will sail for the East Coast to-day. The s.s. Stormbird is expected to arrive here from Wanganui to-day. She is advertised to return to Wanganui to-night.
