The other day the Post made a groat rejoicing over a telegram received from Alexandra, reporting the proceedings of a meeting at which resolutions hostile to the Native policy of the Government were passed. It would appear, however, from the following telegram, received yesterday, that no importance should bo attached to the meeting Alexandra, July 5, 1870. The meeting was got up by Duffus and Roche, in the interest, and I believe at the instance, of Sir George Grey. Duffus is a storekeeper who has a grievance against the Native office because it refuses to give the natives orders upon him for provisions. Roche is well known to be an admirer of Grey. The meeting was got up in a hole-and-corner way, and the district was not represented.”
