Kiwi had to come to an anchorage at the Heads on Monday, owing to the tremendously heavy southerly sea running outside. , . . The barque Australind is still kept a prisoner in our harbor, owing to the prevalence of southerly wind. , ~ , . The Stormbird and Manawatu are advertised to leave for Wanganui this evening. The s.s. Ladybird will leave for Napier this day at 10 a.m. The s.s. Tui was unable to leave for Westport, Grevmouth, and Hokitika yesterday, owing to the strong southerly wind blowing. It is expected she will be able to get away this forenoon. The s.s. Napier left Foxton on Monday afternoon, but as there was no sign of her up to 11 o'clock last night, she has probably taken shelter on the way down. ~,,»! The s.s. Stormbird and the p.s. Manawatu had not arrived up to a late hour last night. They both left Wanganui at 8 a.m. yesterday, but as they had a very strong southerly gale to contend against, their protracted passage can easily be accounted for. The s.s. Taranaki, Captain Lloyd, left the Manukau at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and arrived off Taranaki at 9 o'clock next morning. Took her departure for Nelson at 11 a.m., and arrived there at 4 a.m. on Monday; left at 5 p.m., and reached Picton at 1.15 a.m. yesterday. Stayed there 45 minutes, and left again for Wellington, arriving here as above. Experienced a strong N.W. wind to Nelson. The weather was calm from there to Picton, but from the latter port till arrival a heavy S.E. gale was encountered. The sailing of the Ladybird for Napier has been postponed till 10 o'clock thi3 morning. • Owing to the strong S.E. gale which blew all day yesterday, the departure of the Taranaki for Southern Ports had to be postponed till 3 o'clock this afternoon. The departure of the s.s. Matau for Foxton had to be still further postponed till to-day, owing to the prevalence of strong southerly weather. She will only make one trip to Foxton this week. A schooner named the Kemlworth made the run from Lyttelton to Auckland in the remarkably short time of five days. . T The Ringarooma sailed for thb port from Lyttelton at 4 40 p m. yesterday, and may be looked for here this morning between six and seven o clock. She brings the Suez mail. The Ringarooma will sail for Nelson only this afternoon. Captain Williams, of the barque Camille, which arrived in harbor on Tuesday night from Newcastle, NS W has reported the existence of a sunken rock about three-quarters of a mile S.S.W. of Simpsons rock, in Hauraki Gulf, which is not marked on the chart. —Auckland Herald, June 20.
