IMPORTANT SALE OF FREEHOLDS AT PETONI RAILWAY STATION AND GOVERNMENT WORKSHOPS. MR. R. J. DUNCAN begs to announce that he has received instructions from G. E. Barton, Esq., to sell by public auction on Thursday, 13th July, at ~. o' clock— About twenty acres of his property at Petoni, fronting the Hntt-road, and also fronting Petoni Beach, part of section 4, Lower Hutt district. This land is well and favorably (known for its excellent situation and fitness for a township. It will be sub-divided into convenient allotments fronting broad streets, and every facility will be given for artizans and workmen employed at the railway Government factories to acquire freehold homes at moderate prices, and upon easy terms. The land is dry and healthy, having a gravel subsoil, which causes a natural drainage. Excellent water can be obtained everywhere by sinking about five feet, and the climate may be judged from the fact that Mr. Sellars, the former owner of the land, used to produce fruit and vegetables several weeks in advance of the gardens at the Lower Hutt township, and of a quality far surpassing them. The auctioneer recommends intending purchasers to visit the land, and they will readily see for themselves the convenience and beauty of its situation.' When the railway workshops, now in course of erection by the Government at Petoni, are completed, a very large number of persons will be employed there, and this township will then be THE TOWN, and Petoni Station THE STATION of the I.ower Hutt Valley. The distance from Wellington by both railway and road is exactly six miles, thus affording to business men ready access to town, combined with freedom from city taxes and regulations. All classes will find these freeholds desirable for residences, and a safe and rapidly increasing investment. The .attention of the artizans about to be employed at Petoni is particularly invited to this their only opportunity of securing desirable places for residence, on easy terms.
