RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Thursday, December 30. (Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., R.M.) Agnes Mason, charged with being an habitual drunkard, was found guilty, and sentenced to one calendar month’s imprisonment. David Darrah, convicted of having been drunk and disorderly the night previous, was fined os. and costs, or in default to be imprisoned for twenty-four hours. Jane Wilkin was charged with a breach of the Destitute Persons Relief Ordinance. The case was adjourned for one month. A case of assault, in which Marian Hutchins complained of one Mrs. Porter, was also adjourned till Monday. Thomas Urwin was called to answer a charge of having assaulted Frederick Dixon, but there was no appearance of complainant, so the case was struck out. civil side. In the following cases, judgment went for plaintiffs : Grace v. Hounslow.—Claim £5 2s. ; same v. Watson—Claim, £3 15s. Barber v. Harris— Judgment summons for £1 Os. 6d. Ordered to pay within two months. Smith v. Ringrose— Claim, £1 10s. Ild. Judgment summons. Ordered to pay within seven weeks. Parnell v. Crouchier—Claim, 15s. Burrett V. Skeet — Claim, £ll Is. 2d. There were a number of other cases on the list, but they were either settled out of court, confessed, or otherwise amicably arranged. The Court then adjourned.
