GItAHAMSTOWN, Tuesday. Another candidate is out for the Thames in the person of B. Greenwood, produce dealer. The nomination takes place to-morrow. It is believed Sir George Grey will be proposed. Auckland, Tuesday. In reply to a deputation Sir George Grey consented to contest the seat for the Thames. Robert Graham will stand with him. The criminal calendar contains five charges of wilful murder against four prisoners. O'Rorke received a vote of confidence at a meeting of the electors last night. There will be no opposition. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following telegrams: London, 9th December, 1875. Wool—Competition is increasing, and market firmer. Up to date, 68,000 bales sold. Tallow firm. Mutton, 515.; beef, 48s. per cwt. Leather—Best sales showed Is. 4d. decline on previous rates, others in proportion. Wheat— Adelaide is worth 545., New Zealand 535. per 4961bs.—10th December, 1875. Wool sales closed firmly. Sales comprise about 105,000 bales. 8000 bales have been withdrawn during past sales. 30,000 bales have been taken for export. A good many second hand parcels were offered during past sales. Trade in manufacturing districts is unchanged. Next sales commence on the 15th February. Patea, Tuesday. Ivess addressed a crowded meeting last night. A vote of confidence was carried in his favor by 25 to 6. The candidate supports abolition and tho main policy of the present Government. He is supported on local grounds. Palmekston North, Tuesday. John Mason, an intelligent civilised chief of the Raugitikei tribe, is offering himself for the Western Maori electoral district. He will be opposed by Major Kemp and the Hon. Wi Parata. A sharp contest is anticipated. Nelson, Monday. There was a beautiful day for the regatta. Champion Whaleboat Race, 5 miles.—Brown's Thistle (Nelson crew), 1 ; Wellington Ulub's Cure, 2 ; the Star Club's Titokowaru (pulled by Nelson crew), 3. The Star Club pulled in the Colonist, and gave in after tho first round. There was great excitement, the Wellington men being freely backed. The Thistle took the lead from the start, and increased it throughout, winning by a minute and a-half.
