BLUFF, Tuesday. Passengers per Arawata for Wellington—J. Williams, W. Dowman, 10 steerage, and a few tons of cargo. For Auckland —Colonel Harrington, and son. The s.s. Wellington left Port Chalmers at 11 a.m. on the 19th inst., and arrived at Lyttelton at 6 a.m. on the 20fch ; left same day for "Wellington at 6 p.m., and arrived at 11.30 a.m. on the 21st. Throughout the passage had light head winds and fine weather. ■ The p.s. Manawatu, Captain Evans, left "Wellington at 10.40 p tt». on Saturday ; experienced strong easterly breeze during the run: arrived at Wanganui at 2.15 p.m. on Sunday ; left Wanganui at 4 p.m. on Monday; crossed the bar at 4.30 p.m.; passed Kapiti at 10.15 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at 5;15 a.m. yesterday morning. Experienced strong E.S.E. breeze to-Kapiti; thence till arrival light variable weather. The s.s. Arawata left the Blnff at 9.30 a.m. on Monday, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 8 p.m. same day, we may therefore expect her arrival in this port on Friday forenoon. By private telegram received we learn that the barque Emily McLaren arrived at Newcastle the same day as the Edwin Bassett, and both were to leave again on the 10th for this port. The s.s. Luna, Captain Fairchild,'shifted ’to the reclaimed land yesterday morning, for the purpose of taking on board the engines and necessary gear for underrunning-the cable across the Strait. Buoys are also being prepared for buoying the ends of the cable when picked up. The s.s. Stormbird, Captain Doile, came off the Patent Slip yesterday morning, after having her bottom cleaned and painted, and left at 2.30 p.m. for Wanganui. The s.s. Egmont, Captain Irvine, will leave this day at 5 p.m. for Wanganui. The p.s. Manawatu leaves this day at noon for Wanganui.
