When stating that the old engines were condemned we simply meant that they were condemned its not being of sufficient power. They have been removed solely for that reason, and not because there is any defect in them. , . _ _ The s.s. Phcebe. Captain Worsp, arrived in harbor at 4.15 p.m. yesterday. She left Port Chalmers on the 14th at 4 p.m.; arrived at Lyttelton at 10 a.m. on the 15th; left same day at 7.30 p.m., and arrived as above. _ „ , TheR.M.S.S. Cyphrenes left Port Chalmers Heads at 5.15 p.m. on the 14th inst., and arrived at Lyttelton at 12,15 p.m. on the 15th; left Lyttelton Heads . at 6 p.m. on the 15th, and arrived at Wellington at 12.30 p.m. yesterday. Experienced fine calm weather to Lyttelton, from thence to Wellington strong “‘■'‘northerly winds and head sea. The s.s. Napier left Foxton at 9.30 a.m. on the loth; and towed the ketches Sarah and Mary and Eliza McPhee over the bar ; finally leaving at 1.20 p.m., arriving at 1 a.m. on the 16th. Experienced light N.W. winds and thick weather. The barque -Annie Melhnish sailed for Newcastle yesterday. T.h« s.s. Albion cleared Port Phillip Heads at 6 p.m on the Sth December, passed The Sisters at 12.30 p.m. on the 9th, and arrived off Hokitika at 8 p.m. on the 13th December. Left Hokitika at 2.15 a.m., and arrived off Greymouth at 4 a.m. on the 14th. Left Greymouth at 5.15 a.m., and arrived at Nelson at 10.30 p.m. same day. Left Nelson at 10 p.m. on the 16th, and arrived at Wellington at 6.30 p.m. same day, making the run in 84 hours. Experienced light northerly winds and fine weather to Nelson; from thence strong breezes and pleasant weather.
