" Th?s.s TulCaptain Bonnar, left Port Chalmers at 9.40 p.m. of the 4th; cleared the Heads at 6 a.m. of Sunday, the sth; passed Banks Peninsula at midnight, makiiig an average of actual steaming of a little over Sneklots. Shkdid not call at Lyttelton, but; came On to the Kaikouras. whieh place she reached at 1 pm. ol the 6th: discharged sir tons of cargo, and took in 65 bales of wool, leaving again at S p.m. same evening, and arriving alongside the wharf at noon yesterday From Port Chalmers to Banks Peninsula,, had variable light winds with cross beam sea; from thence to Kaikouras, moderate weather; after leaving to arrival, experienced strong N.W. gHe, steaming along the land to Cape Campbell; then stretched across under sail and steam to Cape TourakarLCaptain Bonnar reports the new schooner Kaikouras,, from-Auckland, as having arrived at the Kaikouras on Sunday last, and the schooner Ruby, which left here on Saturday night, arriving on Monday morning. Daring the passage the Tui has proved herself a firstrate seaboat, and able to steam 94 knots in smooth water. Her cabin aft is fitted up in a most elaborate style, capable of accommodating 17 passengers without inconvenience. She has also a capacious lavatory and* steward’s pantry.. The ladies’cabin is on deck and has berths for six, and, being amidships (or the centre part of the vessel), will prove an inducement for ladles travelling. She also carries an experienced stewardess. Her hold is 45ft. long, biram 16ft., and depth 7ft. 6in.: and the capacious deck forward, which wiU stow with ease about 200 sheep, makes her an admirable 1 boat for rattle. &c. She stows 17 tons 'Of coal in her bunkers, and consumes under tiiree ions in 24 hours; consequently she carries five days coal, full steaming. Her draught of water at present is but 6ft. Bin., and when loaded with 100 tons of cargo on board she will draw but 6ft. Vjfe wish her enterprising owners every success in the bird. The s.s. Go-Ahead, having discharged her powder into a lighter yesterday morning, cam© alongside the wharf at Sa.nL, and then put on shore the boiler (weighing just three tons) and machinery for a sawmill at ilanawato. , , . ~ - The ship Avalanche hauled alongside the vharf, taking No. 2 berth, yesterday forenoon.
