' The s s Phcebe, Captain Worsp, arrived alongside the wharf at eight o’clock yesterday morning, from Southern ports. She left Port Chalmers on the 27th, and Lyttelton at 3.45 on the 29th. Daring her stay at Port Chalmers she went into dock to be cleaned and painted. „ The schooner Euby will leave for the Kaikouras on Thursday (to-morrow), . „ T , The s.s. Ladybird, Captain H. J. C. Andrew, from Picton, Nelson, Taranaki, and Mannkan, arrived in harbor yesterday morning at six o’clock. She left Nelson at 9 a.m. on the 29th, and Picton at midnight Napier, Butt, master, left Foxton at 9 a.m. on Sunday, arriving alongside the wharf at 2 p.m. yesterday. Experienced strong southerly winds, which compelled her to take shelter under Kapiti, and also in Ohau Bay. . , , The s.s. Stonnblrd, Captain Done, arrived alongside the wharf at 12.30 yesterday. She left Wanganui on Sunday last at 9 a.m., and crossed the bar at 9.50. A fresh breeze blowing from the S.E., and gradually increasing to a gale from the southward, with a heavy sea running. Captain Doile deemed it advisable, at 8 p.m., to heave-to till daylight, and came to an anchor under the north end of Kapiti at 6.30 a.m. on Monday. Lay there till 8 p.m. the same day; then weighed anchor and proceeded as far as Ohau Bay, again anchoring on account of strong wind and tide, leaving again at 9.30 yesterday. She reports the schooner Reward, bound for Manawatu, at anchor under Kapiti. We are indebted to Mr. Grant, purser, for report and files. The p.s. Luna, Captain sailed at 1.30 p.m. yesterday for Cook Strait, taking timber lor building a new lighthouse at the Brothers.
