EMIGRANT SHIPS. The following ships despatched for the various ports of New Zealand since July 1, 1875, are now at sea:— Adamant, for the Bluff, on July 14, with 2C7 souls; Zealandia, for Port Chalmers, on July 17, with 210 souls; Himalaya, for Lyttelton, on July 24, with 182 souls; Howrah, for Wellington, on July 31, with 303 souls; Auckland, for Port Chalmers, on July 31, with 458 souls: Mataura, for Nelson, first week in August, •with 200 adult emigrants for Nelson, Marlborough, Westland, and New Plymouth; Duke of Edinburgh, on August 14, for Timaru ; Ocean Mail, on August IX, for Auckland; Inverness, on August 18, for Hawke's Bay; Peter Denny, on August 24, for Bluff; Waimate, on August 31, for Port Chalmers; Avalanche, on September 2, for Wellington ; Waitangi, on September 4, for Lyttelton ; and Waitara, on September 16, for Bluff. A ship was to sail from Hamburgh for Wellington about the end of September.

The time-ball may be used to-day for rating chronometers. A chronometer true on Greenwich time, would show 12h, SOmin. when the ball drops. Any difference Is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The barque Heversham, Captain Yule, left Newcastle on the 2nd inat., and experienced easterly winds and unsettled weather, with a great deal of fog, until making the coast of New Zealand on Saturday last. The ship was becalmed from Saturday night untd Sunday at midday: a dense fog also enveloped the ship About midday the wind freshened, andblcw ameliorate breeze from the westward alll that night On Monday at midnight the vessel was off Terawiti; the vnnd then freshened to a heavy gale, calling the captain to bear up for Cloudy Bay. On Tuesday morning, the weather moderating, she stood across the Strait again, and succeeded in working Into the harbor, where she dropped anchor soon after six on the 19fch mst. . The s.s. Kiwi, Captain Campbell, arrived at the Queen's ‘Wharf yesterday at 8 p.m., from N apier. one left Napier on the 19th inst„ and arrived at Te Apiti at 7 a.m.;sailed at 1 p.m.,and arrived as above. She experienced flue weather throughout the passage, and brings nearly a hundred bales of wool for transhipment for the London market. She leaves for Flaxbournc at 12 o’clock to-night. Captain Wheeler, of the s.s. Hawca, kindly furnishes the following additional particulars relating to the wreck of the s.s. Bruco. He slates that he was one of the party that went down to the wreck. Her bows were completely smashed in. She was lying on her starboard bilge, the sea washing in and out of her funnel. Numbers of boats were engaged In picking up the cargo and fittings which floated out of the hold. The ship Waikato left Lyttelton for this port on Tuesday, with about 400 tons dead weight forLondorJ She will fill up here for that port.

The p.s. Manawatu, Captain Evans, arrived in harbor yesterday at 1 P- m - She left Wanganui at 13 30 p m tlie previous day, and encountered northwesterly winds throughout the passage. The new engines intended for the p.s. Manawatu arrived by the barque Heversham, from Newcastle. The s s. Stormbird arrived at the Queen’s Wharf yesterday at noon. She left Wanganui at 12.30 a.ra. yesterday, and experienced fine weather and light N.W. winds throughout the passage. The ketch Elizabeth, with a cargo of timber, left Pelorus Sound on Sunday last, and anchored in harbor yesterday morning.
