Odr neighbors at Nelson are grumbling after their fashion because they are not to have a share of the new silver coinage from England. But if what we hear about a lode of lead ore, rich in silver, found near Collingwood, is true, or half true, Nelson folk will have little occasion for discontent in regard to that metaL It seems that Mr. Washboume, an experienced miner, has been looking for such a thing ever since Dr. Hochstetter said that silver must turn up some day in the Collingwood district, and not long ago ho found a lode of very heavy ore, which Mr. Skey, on analysis, finds mainly to consist of galena, copper, antimony, and silver. The St. Arnaud ore, in Victoria, has been worked with partial success, though containing only about 2ozs. of silver to tho ton. The Nelson ore averages upwards of 200ozs. We presume it is intended to work it by a company.
