(per press agency.) Auckland, Tuesday. The Diocesan Synod opened to-day. The Bishop’s opening address congratulated the Synod on the renewed life in the Maori Church. Lyttelton, Tuesday. The body of David Evans, a seaman of the ship Waikato, was picked up dead on the rooks to-day, near Gladstone pier. The soiree to the Rev. Mr. Lloyd, incumbent of Holy Trinity Church, comes off tonight at the Colonists' Hall, and promises to be a great success. ;
