A ship was signalled daring the course of yesterday, bat reliable information as to her name did not come to hand up to the time of our going to press. She will probably turn out to be either the Border Chief from London or the Herschel from Hamburg. The Border Chief is this day 101 days out, and brings thirty second-class, intermediate, and steerage passengers, and a large general cargo. The Herschel has 2251 statute adult immigrants, and is about the same time out as the Border Chief. Both vessels are consigned to Messrs. Johnston and Co. The s.s. Napier left Foxton at 12 noon yesterday, and arrived in harbor at midnight. She reports spcaMng the p.s. Luna under Kapiti, bound to Foxton. The Napier towed the schooner Elisabeth Curie out of Foxton yesterday morning for Havelock. The barque Edwin Bassett, Captain Forster, from Newcastle, anchored in the stream last night at 11.45, after a twelve day’s passage from that port. She experienced favorable weather throughout the run, and brings 396 tons of coal to this port. The very handsome modelled yacht Garibaldi, 6 tons, changed hands yesterday, the price being £55. It will be recollected that she took a foremost place in the contest at the last regatta, and very narrowly missed coming in winner. Her present owner, Mr. Pounceby, intends to enter her at the next repitta. L y tte j ion Captain Scott, left Blenheim yesterday at 8 a.m., and arrived in Wellington at 5.30 p.m. Experienced fine weather throughout the passage.
