Programme of Greymouth Jockey Club ; two days' racing, 27th and 28th December.— The following are the principal events :—Trial Stakes, 40 so vs.; Greymouth Handicap, 150 sovs.; Railway Stakes, 50 sovs.; Allcomers' Handicap, 30 bovb.; Grey Valley Handicap, 125 sovs.; Handicap Hurdle, 40 sovs.; Borough Handicap, 50 sovs,; Novel Race, 30 sovs.; Consolation, 20 sovs.
Efforts are being made to establish a hunt club in Chrixtchureh and obtain a draft of hounds from Melbourne.

Edwards, the champion walker, won the match on the 18th against Green, of Dunediu. Edwards had to walk 70 yards while Green ran 100 yards. Edwards won . easily. Edwards then attempted to walk seven miles in one hour, but failed. He did the seven miles in 60m. 6|sec. Considering the small size of the course and its bad condition, this was a splendid performance. On good ground he would have done the distance within the hour.
Iu thp football match, played in Dunedin on the 22nd inst., Otago won, the'scores being— Otago, nine and a half points ; Auckland, half a point. Play commenced at three, and continued till five. Ends were changed four times, but the ball was always kept near the Auckland goal, and very rarely past the centre of ground. No goals wore lacked. Auckland played well, but from the first half hour it was easily seen they were overweighted. Macfarlane, for the northerners, worked hard, but the Otago men had it nU their own way. The game was played in a most friendly manner, there being no disputes and thebestof good-fellowship being observed throughout. The half point for Auckland wns a touchdown at the commencement of the game. Over 3,000 persons were present. At the conclusion the spectators gave three hearty cheers for the visitors. The weather held up fine throughout. " A dinner was given to the visitors in the evening.
