OBITUARY.

A telegram received from Auckland on the 12th inst. stated that the Rev. Father Boibeux had died that morning at two o'clock. The deceased gentleman was well known and respected by many in this colony. His field of labor had been successively in Auckland, Lyttelton, and again in Auckland, where he breathed his last. He was remarkable for gentleness of manner, an unassuming character, and his piety, zeal, and inoffensivenesa. _He had been a hard worker in his Master's vineyard for some twenty years. Requiescat in pace. His friends are consoled by a remembrance of his good qualities, and by sure and certain hope. We observe in our obituary notice of to-day the name of Mrs. Vallance, wife of C. A. Vallance, Esq., of the Wairarapa Mrs. Vallance was the daughter of Mr. Mcßae, of Nelson, one of the early settlers of that province, and was first married to Mr. Donald Drummond, of Wellington, who was unfortunately drowned whilst crossing the mouth of the Wairarapa Lake. She was afterwards married to Mr. "Vallance, and has resided in the Wairarapa for a considerable number of years. She was much esteemed as a kind, genial, good woman, ever ready to assist a new comer in making a home in this new land of ours, and her loss will be deeply regretted by her family and a large circle of friends. Mr. Fitchett, whose death is announced in our obituary column this day, was a well known and respected resident of the province, and had been an inhabitant of the colony over thirty-four years. He died rather suddenly, after having been ill of influenza for two days. •. ■ .; . Another old settler has joined the majority. Mr. Josiah Tocker, who for some twenty years past has been a resident in the Wairarapa Valley, has died of congestion of the lungs, after an illness of a few days. Mr. Tocker has always been foremost in promoting the prosperity of the district in which his home was, and is regretted by all who knew him.
