She experienced heavy weather south of the Cape; sighted seven icebergs, and had several heavy snowstorms. Sailed.—The Ringarooma, for the North. WEATHER YESTERDAY.—S P.M. Auckland.—3olo—Calm ;• fine. Castle Point. —3024—5.5. W. gale; gloomy. Sea rough .. Wellington.—SO^—S.E. gale; cloudy. Hokitjka 30-30—S.W.. fresh: fine. Bar good. Westtort.—3o2s—East breeze ; fine. Sea very smooth. Oamaku.—3o4l.—S.S.E.. fresh; fine. Slight swell. • Bluft.—3o"3B.—S.E., light; cloudy. A heavy southerly swell. The s.s. Taupo, Captain James Macfarlane, arrived at the Queen's Wharf at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday last. She left Port Chalmers Railway pier at 3.50 p.m. on the 23rd, and arrived at Lyttelton at 8 a.m. on the 24th, making a passage from wharf to wharf of sixteen hours and ten minutes, and experiencing light variable winds, with smooth sea, on the run. She left Lyttelton at 6 p.m. the same day, and arrived here as above stated. Experienced fresh head winds, with smooth sea, throughout the passage. She left for the North at midnight on Saturday. The"s.B. Rangatira, Captain Griffiths, arrived from Poverty Bay and Napier, with the Ea3t Coast portion of the outward Suez mail, at 11 a.m. yesterday. She left Poverty Bay at 5.20 p.m. on Thursday, 23rd inst.; passed Portland Island at 9.20 the same day. Arrived off Napier at 5 a.m. on Friday, the 24th, where she remained until the next day. Left again for Wellington at 11.30 a.m.; passed Cape Kidnappers at 1.20 p.m.; was off Castle Point at 11.20 p.m.; rounded Cape Palliser at 8 a.m. on Sunday, the 26th inst., entering the Heads at 10 a.m., and arriving as above. She experienced from Poverty Bay to Napier strong S.W. winds, accompanied with heavy squalls of rain ; and from Napier to Cape Turnagain light easterly and north-easterly airs. From thence to Cape Palliser fresh winds, varying from N.W. to S.W., encountering a strong S.E. gale, with heavy cross seas, which continued until arriving at the Heads. .. The s.s. Hawea, Captain Wheeler, left Manukau at 3 p.m. on Thursday last, crossed the bar at 4.30 p.m., and arrived at Taranaki next morning at sunrise. Having discharged cargo and landed passengers, she sailed again at 12.30 p.m., arriving in Nelson at 3 a.m; next day. She left Nelson at 3.30 p.m., and steamed through the French Pass at 0.30 p.m., arriving at Picton at 10 p.m. She discharged cargo and passengers, and after taking in 200 tons of potatoes. left at 7 a.m. yesterday, passing the Taupo at 8.30 a.m., and came alongside the Queen's wharf at 12 noon. She fcal fine weather to Picton; from thence S.W. gales, with heavy sea. The p.s. Manawatu, Captain Evans, left the Corporation wharf, W»nganui, at 4 p.m., crossed the bar at 6.30 p.m., and arrived in Wellington at 11 a.m. yesterday. She experienced light westerly -winds up to 3.50 a.m. yesterday, and then it came on to blow from the south all the rest of the passage. l The s.s. Egmont cleared the Customs for Wairau on Saturday last, but her departure has boen unavoidably postponed until to-day at noon The favorite clipper brig Robin Hood, Captain PatOD, will have quick despatch for Newcastle direct on Wednesday next. t Tlio p.s Lyttelton, Captain Scott, left Blenheim at 12 and arrived in Wellington at 9 p.m. on Saturday. Experienced fine weather throughout the run.
