(PER PRESS AGENCY.) Auckland, Friday. Louis Fieri, charged with stealiug a watch, the property of Wm. Hauaton, at Christchurch, lias been remanded to that city. Grahamstown, Friday. John McKee,brotherof the Key. Mr. McKee, of Masterton, died last night, from injuries received in the Mauukau mine last Wednesday week. Christchurch, Friday. The interprovincial football match commenced at 1.15 p.m. There was glorious weather. A half-holiday was observed in the city. There was a large attendance. The betting was slightly in favor of Canterbury. Auckland kicked off the ball, which was almost immediately carried towards the Auckland end, and kept there. At 1.30, Thompson, of Canterbury, obtained a touchdown j but Ollivior, in kicking for the goal, missed it. Canterbury scored two points for the touchdown. The ball was still kept towards the Auckland end. At 1.40, Anderson, of Canterbury, obtained another touchdown, but Ollivier again missed the goal kick. Two more points were scored to Canterbury for the touchdown. At 2.15, Hartland, of Canterbury, obtained a touchdown ; but Cottcrell missed the goal kick by a few inches. Two more points to Canterbury for the touchdown. Canterbury also obtained four forcedowna, scoring two points. The score at 2.20 was: —
Canterbury, 8 ; Auckland, nothing. During the remainder of game Canterbury obtained three more forcedowns, for which one and a half points were scored. In the last half hour the Aucklanders made a desperate struggle, and succeeded in getting the ball up towards Canterbury’s end, but only kept it there for a short time. Canterbury then began to force the ball back, and for some time it was kept in the middle of the ground. During the last ten minutes Canterbury again got the ball to the Auckland end, but could not get a goal. Time was called at 3.15, Canterbury then being 9J points, Auckland nothing. The Auckland team sailed North at five o’clock.
Redwood has sold the racehorses Kauri and The Chief, with all engagements, to Mr. Thomas Shand, Canterbury, for £9OO. Haines, trainer for Delamaine, offers to hack Templeton for £IOO, to run Rory O’More or King Phillip any distance from half a mile to four miles. . ~~—
For the annual parade of entire horses tomorrow there are sixty-three entries this year against fifty-three last. A Scandinavian Society was established last night.
