The preliminary inquiry respecting the collision between the Jane Spiers and the Young Dick, which was appointed to take place yesterday, was dispensed with, 'as the Commissioner of Customs has sufficient evidence to warrant the committal of the case for the adjudication of the Resident Magistrate. The.s.s. Napier, for Foxton, left the wharf yesterday afternoon. She took with her 24 immigrants ex Rodney. The favorable wind of yesterday morning enabled the brigantine Enterprise to get under way. She has a cargo of sleepers and is bound for Wanganui. The barque Dilawur passed entries yesterday, and was berthed alongside No. 6 berth. The s.s Stormbird has received a thorough overhaul, arid came alongside. the Queen's wharf yesterday morning. She will leave for Wanganui today. . The s.s. Sir Donald was launched yesterday morning from Mecch’a slip, and is moored alongside the breastwork. : .
