RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Saturday, September. 4. (Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. James Thompson, who had been locked up for four days, in order to give him an opportunity to recover from the effects of a drinking about, was brought up and discharged, his Worship thinking the man had already undergone sufficient punishment. Mary Douglas, an old offender, was fined 20s. BROACHING CARGO. Samuel Nutting, who had been caught in the act of broaclrmg cargo on board the ship Teviotdale, was sent to gaol for four weeks. FALSE PRETENCES. Thomas Roche, brought up on remand, charged with obtaining money under false pretences, was further remanded for a week, to allow of evidence being obtained from Wanganui. ___^_____
