THE BILLS IN COMMITTEE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir,— May I suggest, through your columns, to the Reporting Debates Committee of the House of Representatives that during the progress through Committee of the Whole of such important measures as the Abolition of Provinces Bill and the Local Government Bill, we should have recorded in Hansard something more than the usual condensed committee reports of amendments proposed and divisions of the House. Also, that schedules to the Local Government Bill, showing the new shire boundaries, be published with as little delay as possible; that such boundaries be subject to the criticism of the House, and be not loft to Orders in Council, to be issued after the prorogation ; and that lithographed maps, defining the proposed boundaries, be circulated throughout the colony. I presume this definition of boundaries is not to be postponed till next session. If Hansard is not to give these committee reports, I appeal to you, sir, as manager of the only paper in tho colony that aims at anything like full reports of the debates, to supply its place in the New Zealand Times. I think many readers would often gladly compound for verbatim reports on the general question by more lengthy committeo reports.—l am, »ec, Outsider.
