By yesterday morning the glass had again fallen considerably, and the wind had gone back to north and east at nearly all the places on the weather report, but had not commenced to blow strongly. The sea had become more quiet, and the West Coast bars were reported good. The s.s. Otago, Captain Calder, left the Sandndge Railway Pier at 3.30 p.m. on the 11th inst., with 375 tons cargo for all ports. Cleared the Heads at 6.20 p m., and passed Wilson's Promontory at 4.40 a.m., and Kent's Group at 9.30 a.m. next day. Had fresh N.E. winds and squally weather, with rain at intervals, throughout the passage, arriving in Hokitika roadstead at midnight of the 16th ; at 5.30 next morning the tender Waipara came alongside, delivered cargo, mails, and passengers, and proceeded on to Greymouth a,t 10.50 a.m-, arriving there at 12.30 p.m.; exchanged passengers, &c, with the Dispatch, and at 2 p.m. proceeded on towards Nelson, arriving there at noon on the 18th, too late for the morning's tide ; experienced a strong head wind from the Grey. Left again for Wellington at 11 a.m. on the 19th, passed the French Pass at 2 p.m., and Jackson Head at 4 p.m., arriving at Wellington at 8.30. Experienced light N.W. winds during the passage from Nelson. The 8.6. Wellington arrived yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. She left Port Chalmers at 3.15 p.m. on the 16th, encountered a strong gale from the N.E., and arrived at Lyttelton on the 17th at 8 p.m.; left at 3 p.m. next day, with light winds, which lasted till reaching the Strait, when she experienced a N.E. gale. No doubt the length of her passage between Port Chalmers and Lvttelton was owing to the strong head wind. Sighted the Phcebe on the 17th off Akaroa at 6.30 p.m. The s.s. Stormbird left Wanganui at 10 p.m. on the ISth inst, and arrived yesterday at 11 a.m. Experienced fine weather throughout the voyage. The p-s. The barque Edwin Bassett arrived at 7 o'clock yesterday morning from Newcastle, which port she left on the sth. Experienced fine weather throughout the voyage. The Enterprise, brigantine, from Blackhead, reached the wharf yesterday about 3.30 p.m. She left at 8.30 p.m. on the 17th with N.E. wind, passed Castlepoint at 8 a.m. on Wednesday: after passing Cape Palliser a strong N.W. wind set in, which lasted until reaching this port. The cause of the non-arrival of the William Ackers, a barque from Newcastle, is that she was obliged to put back to Sydney on account of the weather. A rumor was abroad yesterday that her crew were in a state of mutiny: this, however, is not strictly true The crew refused to go aboard because the captain had declined to take charge of her ; this, however, is now quite settled. It is said she was in a very leaky condition on arriving at Sydney. The s.s. Easby will arrive to-day. She left Lyttelton yesterday at 1.15 p.m. The Wellington brought on the Omeo's mails from Port Chalmers. The latter boat will not arrive till Saturday. The barqne Helena left Newcastle on the sth inst., and arrived yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock. Experienced fine weather throughout.
