The barometer yesterday continued to fall during the early part of the day, and moderate to fresh easterly winds were reported generally. _ The day here was very fine, with light and variable airs. The s.s. Hawea arrived on Monday about midnight. She left Onehunga at 4 p.m. on Friday, and reached Taranaki at 8 o'clock next morning ; sailed again at 4 p.m., and arrived at Nelson at 5 a.m. on Sunday. Left on Monday morning at 8.45, reaching Picton at 3.45 p.m. Left again at 7.15 p.m., and arrived as above. She met the Taupo at Picton, when Captain Wheeler changed ships, and returned to Nelson in - consequence of illness in his family. She experienced fine weather, with strong S.E. winds, during the passage. . The s.s. Egmont arrived yesterday morning at 9, o'clock, from Wanganui and Rangitikei, having left Wanganui on Friday, and Rangitikei at 9 p.m. on Monday. Experienced fine weather throughout. The s.s. Hawei left for Southern Ports yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The s.s. Kiwi arrrired in harbor, from Napier, last evening. She left Napier at 5.30 p.m. on the 16th, and arrived at the wharf at 9.30 p.m. on the 17th. Experienced strong head sea and light head wind to Castlepoint; thence to Cape Palliser, light northerly winds and fine; during the remainder of the passage, light N.W. winds.and smooth sea. Passed the s.s.. Rangatira in Palliser Bay.
