Phcebe arrived yesterday afternoon at halfpast four o'clock with the English mails. She crossed the Manukau bar inwards at 4.45 a.m. on the 13th inst., arriving at Onehunga wharf at 7 a.m. ; took in Government steam launch, &c., and left for the anchorage at 7 a.m. on the 14th ; received mails, passengers, &c., in the afternoon, and sailed for the South at 5 p.m., crossing the bar at 6.30 p.m., and arriving at Taranaki next morning at 8 o’clock ; discharged cargo, mails, &c., and left again at 8.40 a.m.; reached Nelson at 11.40 p.m. same day. There being no pilot boat in attendance. Captain Worsp lowered ship’s bbat and took the mails and passengers ashore. Left Nelson at 3.20 a.m. on the 16th ; reached Picton at 11 a.m. ; sailed again at 11.40 a.m., and reached Wellington as above, making the passage from Manukau to Wellington in 471 hours, including five hours and forty minutes detention at the various ports of call. This remarkably quick passage, which was run against a strong S.E. wind and heavy sea. is the fastest she has made, doing the distance in less time t-hftTi when she made her first trip on the coast with new boilers, &c. In this trip she has also beaten the s.s. Wellington, which made a very quick run down, with a fair wind from Auckland to this port. The ship Collingwood, which has been taking in ballast for the lari; week or so, has hauled off the wharf and anchored near Plpitea Point. The p.s. Osprey, which has been undergoing repairs at Coffey’s slip, was launched on Saturday, and came alongside the breastwork to have her engines replaced. She will sail for the Blenheim river in a day or two.

The Government steam launch was busily employed yesterday bringing immigrants from the Quarantine Island. From twenty to twenty-five were landed, all enjoying good health. The s.B. Taupo sailed yesterday for Northern ports. «■ The Phcebe took her departure last night at 8.30 for Southern ports. She has the San Francisco mail on board.
