ABOLITION MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir,—ln your issue this day a correspondent, signing himself "Fair Play," hopes that another public meeting will be held on the Government proposals now before Parliament, as lie thinks the result does not really represent the feeling of the city on the question, and that the late meeting was packed by the provincial party, &c. I can say honestly that the more that the proposed measures are discussed and understood, the better will it be for the peace, order, and good government of the country; and holding such views, I for one, as a simple elector, shall be glad to assist in having a meeting called for such a purpose. Should another meeting take place, I beg to suggest that Mr. Hunter, Mr. Fitzherbert, Mr. Bunny, and other members should be asked to attend and give explanations.—! am, &c, R. J. Duscux.
