MISREPRESENTATION.

TO THE EDITOR. OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir,—lt appears that the Evening Post keeps a branch establishment in this district for the manufacture of falsehoods in the form of telegrams, which branch has distinguished, itself by sending the following as a portion of the account of the late Greytown meeting :— '* The chairman, Mr. Pharazyn, proposed that the meeting should be reconstituted for the purpose of asking Sir. Andrew to address them on the abolition proposals of the Government," and goes on to say the idea was "indignantly rejected." In this small space the "correspondent" has managed to crowd three gross awl deliberate falsehoods. I was not chairman. I did not suggest the second meeting, and it was not indignantly rejected. The facts are these :r-The chairman, Mr. K-evans, asked the meeting whether, so large a number being present, it would not be wise to obtain some information from Mr. Andrew with respect to the Government proposals, and I, in speaking to the last of the series of resolutions I had proposed, said that I thought it was a good idea : but it was left entirely to the meeting to decide, and not pressed in any way. The feeling appeared to ba against doing so, as it was getting late, and the meeting quietly dispersed. The "indignation" is a pure fabrication of the correspondent. On the strength of this telegram the Post favors its readers with an article full of abuse and ridicule of Mr. Andrew and myself, which is beneath contempt. I will merely inform the editor, as I have done before, that I am perfectly indifferent to anything he may say of me, but when, as in the present ease, .falsehoods are published as facts, I shall feel bound to contradict them. —I am, &c, C. PhAAAZY*?. Longwood, August 10.
