PORT CHALMERS, Tuesday. Arrived : Ship Woodlark, from London. She brings twenty-one passengers and a large general cargo. Py Tuesday morning the bardmeter had risen considerably in the South, and the weather generally was very cold. A fresh southerly gale commenced on Monday evening and continued to blow all yesterday, accompanied bv strong squalls and showers or rain and bail. The hills on the eastern side of the harbor, near Wainuiomata, were covered with snow. The s.s. Kangatira left Napier on the Ist mat at to SO D m.. with a light N.W. wind ; rounded .Kidnappers at *2.15 p.m., when a fresh S.E. breeze sprang up ; at 0 p.m. the same day was off Tar ? next morning encountered a strong S.W. gale, witu squalls of rain and heavy sea ; arrived at the wharf on Monday night. . , , The schooner Jessie made a very quick tnp from Lyttelton, having left that port on Monday morning and anchored off the wharf yesterday morning about n o’clock. _ The Annie Hqwlan, schooner, from Oamaru na Kaikanui, arrived yesterday morning, bhe left Kaikanni ou Ibe 31st July ; experienced fine weather until reaching Kaikoura, when she encountered aS E. gale; anchored inside the Heads on Monday morning at 7 o’clock, ■ arriving off the wharf as a *The' s.s. Tararna took her departure yesterday morning for Melbourne via the West Coast. , „ The .s.s. Ladybird left yesterday morning tor Northern ports. '
