BY TELEGRAPH. LYTTELTON, Saturday. Arrived. —Prince Alfred, from the Thames; Tararna, from the Sonth; Albion, from the North. Sailed.—Tararua, for the North; Albion, for the Sonth, carrying Suez mail. PORT CHALMERS, Saturday. Arrived.—The steamer Star of the South; Albion, from Lyttelton; brigantine Sarah and Mary, from Greymouth. The weather yesterday was cloudy and dull during the morning, but towards the middle of the day it cleared up, and the wind which had b en light from the southward fell calm for a short while and then came from the northwest. The Queen's wharf presented a very deserted appearance on Saturday last. The heavy gale and steady downpour of rain put an almost complete stoppage to all traffic. Luckily, there was no damage done to the shipping.the Hannibal, attached to one of the buoys, dragged a good distance towards the baths; at one time was thought she would run aground. The s.s. Phoebe arrived at "Wellington on Saturday night at 10.30. Left Manukau on the 29th at 4p.m. ; reached Taranaki at 10.30 a.m. next day; sailed again at 2 p.m. same day, arriving at Nelson at 7.30 on Saturday morning; left at 8 a.m., and reaehed Wei lington as above. Met with strong N.E. gale after leaving Manukau, which lasted till she arrived at Taranaki. After leaving the last named place the wind shifted to N.W., and lasted till arrival at Wellington. Weather thick throughout the trip. She has on board a small steam launch, about 40ft. in length, weighing, without engines, 5 tons 2 cwt. On her trial trip she made nine knots an hour. She was built in Auckland for the General Government. There were four of them built; one for Auckland, another for Wellington, and the others for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers respectively. The p.s. Luna left Foxton at 7 a.m. on the 31st July. Experienced strong gale with heavy sea till reaching Wellington, which she did at 6.38 p.m. on Saturday. The s.s. Tararua left Saudridge at 2.15 p.m. on the 23rd, passed the Heads at 5.45 p.m., and Swan Island at 3.30 p.m. on the 24th; made the Solanders at 7 p.m. On the 28th arrived at the Bluff, at 1.30 p.m. Had light N.E. winds and fair weather until passing the Solanders, when a fresh breeze set in from the S.E with rain. Left Bluff at 9 p.m. and arrived at Port Chalmers at 12.30 p.m. on the 29th. Left again on the 30th at 4 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at 1 p.m. on the 31st; left again at 0 p.m. same day, and reached Wellington yesterday morning. The schooner Cynthia arrived on Saturday from Kaipara. She crossed the bar in company with the Jessie Henderson and Agnes Jessie, schooners, both bound for Dunedin. On Thursday, 29th inst., at 10 a.m., met with a gale from the" N.E., which veered round to the N.W. Sighted Mana at 1 a.m. on Saturday; arrived off the Heads about 7 a.m. the same day : beat up the harbor, and anchored off the breastwork on the above date. The steam lighter Sir Donald came in yesterday from Napier. She will be placed on the slip to undergo a thorough overhaul
