The Financial Statement will be brought down to-day by the Colonial Treasurer, and arrangements have been made by the Government for telegraphing .gratis the substance of the speech to the papers in the provinces. To the end that the whole colony may be in possession of the latest information respecting the projects of the Government contained in the Abolition Bill, the full text will be telegraphed free of charge to papers throughout the colony. THE WeEington correspondent of the Otago Daily Times has brought Dr. Menzies down a peg or two. In the issue of that paper for the 23rd instant we find him represented as taking part in a debate as a member of the Lower House. It is not singular that this palpable error should have escaped the eagle eyes of those local error detectors who are sensitive to all mistakes except their own.
