Abrived: Ship Cragie Lea, from Glasgow 18th March; barque Celestia. from Newcastle 21st June ; Taranaki, s.s., from Lyttelton. The Time-ball may be used to-day for rating chronometers. A chronometer true on Greenwich time would show 12h. 30m. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The brigantine Hannah Broomfleld arrived from the Kaipara yesterday, after a very good run of fortyeight hours to the Heads. Captain Dawson reports leaving the Kaipara Heads on Saturday afternoon, with a fresh N.W. breeze, which increased to a gale, accompanied by thick and rainy weather. Passed Mana on Monday at 11 a.m., and arrived off the Heads the same afternoon, but the wind fell light after dark; anchored off the pilot station till yesterday morning. She brings about 95,000 feet of timber, consigned to her owners, Messrs. Greenfield and Stewart, and 4 kauri spars for Mr. E. Pearce. Captain Dawson reports the following vessels lying in Kaipara Harbor when the Hannah Broomfleld left : Barques—Harriet Armitage, Especulador; brigantines —Roderick Dhu and Eliza Mary; schooners —Mar-" mion, Aurora, and Aspasla. The schooners Melaine and Cynthia were sighted about twenty miles to the southward of the Kaipara Heads, working to windward. The American schooner Rosannah Rose hauled alongside the wharf yesterday, and will commence discharging this morning. The Colonial Government steamer Luna arrived from the North yesterday, with the Northern represensatives and several other passengers. Messrs. McMeckan and Co.'s s.s. Alhambra, Captain Bawden, from Melbourne via Hokitika, arrived in harbor yesterday morning. She brought a large number of passengers and 205 tons of bonded goods for this port. She leaves for Melbourne via The Bluff at 2 p.m. to-day.
