The mean degree of moisture is considerably higher than usual. The maximum rainfall was recorded on 13th, 105 in. Wind prevailed from N.W. and S.E., and often strong. On sth strong wind from S E ; barometer fell from 30117 to 29*559; during the night changed to S.W., and blew hard and very cold. Continued on Oth, severe weather. Wetand unplea-
ant on 12th. from' S.E., heavy rain ; on 13th strong N W at night but mild; continued stormy on 14tn, no rain. Fine on 29th. but barometer falling and threatening afternoon heavy rain in night, N.W., mud, and continued rain on SGth, barometer • stUl falling (29"174in.), in night wind shifted to S.B. and heavy ram and. cold ; barometer rather higher towards morning of Ist July (29*490), but S.E. gale set in with rain, very cold wind.
