RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Thursday, July 1. (Before J. C. Crawford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Mabel Sinclair, a new arrival from Dunedin, was charged with this offence. It being her first offence, she was discharged with a caution. ■ Barney Sullivan, an incorrigible, having been locked up for a week, was discharged. LUNACY. George Paris, who was given in charge by his wife, was brought up on suspicion of being of unsound mind. It appears that he Lad* used her somewhat roughly, aud had threatened to take her life. A certificate from Dr. Harding was handed in to the effect that the accused was unsafe, and he was remanded for a week. STEALING FROM A DWELLING. Robert Glover was charged with this offence. On the application of Sergeant Monaghan, he was remanded till Saturday. civil cases. * , After dealing with several minor cases, in wliioh judgment was given for the amount claimed, the case of Johnstone v. Glifford, claim, £5, for trespass—Mr. Bell for Mr. Allan for defendant—was dealt with, his Worship giving judgment for £3 155., with costs.
