Sailed : Eangitikei, ship, for Lyttelton. - PORT OF SYDNEY. Arrived, June 3: s.s. Easby. . PORT OF NEWCASTLE. Arrived, May 31: Edwin Fox, barque ; June 1: Edwin Bassett, barque. The Time-ball may bo used to-day for rating chronometers. A chronometer true on Greenwich time would show 12h. 30m. when the ball drops. Any difference is error, plus or minus, of the chronometer. The s.s. Rangatira arrived from the East Coast yesterday, bringing a number of passengers. She left Napier at 11.30 a.m. on the 13th, and came alongside the wharf at 12.30 p.m. yesterday, making, the run from Napier in 25 hours, having experienced strong N.W. wind 3 and high sea. The schooner Shepherdess arrived from Pelorus Sound yesterday, with a cargo of timber consigned to Messrs. Greenfield and Stewart. The s.s. Ino sailed yesterday afternoon for Havelock, with a general cargo shipped by Messrs. Turnbull, E. W. Mills, Barrett, and Hunt. The ketch Jane Elkin cleared, in ballast, for HaveThe ship Hannibal has sailed from Nelson for this port, and she may therefore be expected to arrive here during to-day. A telegram was received by Messrs. Turnbull yesterday, stating that the s.s. Napier, which left on Saturday for Foxton, had not put in an appearance at that place. It further stated that the weather was very boisterous, the wind blowing strong from the N.W. Most likely Captain Butt has taken shelter at Kapitl, as he had some valuable live stock on board. The Manawatu sailed at 10 p.m. yesterday for Wanganui. She took a small cargo of exports and only one passenger.
