THE TITANIC STEEL AND IRON COMPANY.

TO THE EDITOR OP THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sir, —Some short time since your Tarauaki correspondent, writing on the above subject, said of the manager, "It is thought when the pinch comes that ho will get flurried and sink under the worry and bother ot anxious and meddlesome theoretical men, and so damn the whole undertaking, Everybody is anxious and looking forward to success; there is no mincing the matter. Few really expect it. unless a thoroughly efficient manager is secured, &c." The whole tone of the letter points to the probable failure of the undertaking unless a competent manager can be found. There has been some talk of appointing a managing director, and it is said that a gentleman has been named for that purpose. But if lie has not already had some experience in blast furnace work,, smelting from ore and converting it afterwards, it is feared that his knowledge would prove insufficient toinsure the success of the undertaking. I have no uoiVDvxiiat lr tiic directors advertise lor a manager to undertake such work as is required under existing circumstances, that they would be able to obtain the services of a competent person. So far as I know, up to the present time, there is no fault to find; everything has been done satisfactorily. I am as a party interested in the success of the conrpany, anxious to see the teasers at work and the metal coming in a fluid state from the tap-hole, with a due proportion of scoria, and no bear in the furnace afterwards.— I am, &c, Wellington, June 12. ~ Hot Blast.
